Haryana

Nobody knows what the RSS is doing in Haryana.

The cadre is perturbed and disillusioned with the appointments of three new Information Commissioners. Even many senior civil servants who were expecting to be appointed were also aghast to see the list of new appointees. The appointments show that either the RSS/ BJP does not have competent cadre to fill the posts or the extraneous pressure on Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar is so much that he appears to be helpless.

The Haryana Government appointed Lieutenant General KJ Singh, Jai Singh Bishnoi and Kamal Deep Bhandari as State Information Commissioners just before the announcement of the general elections. The media was informed that the search committee was headed by none other than Chief Secretary DS Dhesi. The selection committee comprised Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Leader of Opposition Abhay Singh Chautala and Forest Minister Rao Narbir Singh.

Sources disclosed that Lt. Gen KJ Singh is facing a CBI inquiry over allegations of irregularities in sanctioning of mobile towers in Hisar military station during his tenure as GOC of the armoured division in 2010. Jai Singh Bishnoi was a leader of the Congress Party and close to former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda a year ago. Also, he was the founder member of controversial Gopal Kanda’s political outfit Haryana Lokhit Party. Ms. Kamal Deep Bhandari has served as Commissioner under Right to Service Commission in Punjab and close to the Akalis. Everybody is questioning why Abhay Chautala did not object on the induction of persona non grata in a prime institution of the state.

Is he really in cahoots with the Chief Minister?
